Fritillaria meleagris – Queen of Flowers

Fritillaria meleagris, the queen of spring flowers. This beauty deserves an own gallery. The chess flower is a neophyte in Germany and highly endangered. There are only a few places left where you can adimre this flower in its natural environment. A lot of meadows have fallen victim to drainage and agriculture. People dig out the plants and fail growing them in their own gardens. For years I was living next to one of the few remaining wild sites and spent hours and hours with those beautiful beings. Even now that I live quite a distance away I always try to stop by there in springtime to enjoy the wonderful view and grace of this flowers.
